How to install PMD-plugin to Eclipse?

Hello!

(This is acctually a post about the IDE Eclipse, but I could not find any thread about IDE:s)

I try to install the pmd-plugin into my Eclipse Ganymede.
The problem I got is that my computer with my Eclipese do not got Internet access.
This leaves me to download, copy it and install it localy.

I have downloaded both the following files:
pmd-bin-4.2.4.zip
pmd-eclipse-site-3.2.4.v200804111600.zip

If I extract the file pmd-eclipse-site-3.2.4.v200804111600.zip and point out the extracted folder as Local Site from my Eclipse I get this error:
http://eunywq.blu.livefilestore.com/y1plv31RdKscnvGYToTLri9NntqnqizCuKEKHhd2bNxQ729tqN06OreOAWRXBOzq-2g04GNToxYB0j-VcVpC6PC8Q/pmd_error.png

I get the same if I copy the folders "features2 and "plugins" to my Eclipse installation.

If I just copy the "plugins" to my Eclipse installation, it does not work at all.

If follow tge instructions at:
http://pmd.sourceforge.net/integrations.html
with the file pmd-bin-4.2.4.zip both extracted and not extracted, Eclipse do not recognize them as a repository at all.

Any clues ar most helpful.

Best regards
Fredrik

I would find it tempting to:
- install a clean Eclipse on a PC with internet connection
- install PMD online
- copy the Eclipse dir tree PC with internet -> memory stick -> PC without internet

Hello again!

Looks like I managed to do it!

I did never see the button "Archive" at "Add site" in Eclipse.
When I choosed that and pointed out the zip pmd-eclipse-site-3.2.4.v200804111600.zip then it first said it could not find a repo but I never mind, since I got a site any way. I marked the newly added site and clicked "Install". Strangely no plugin in was in the list, but I went on any way. A terms of condition appears and I selected ok. Then it started to install.
I never restarted my Eclipse, just apply changes, I do not know if it matters, then it worked!

(I hope I did not forgot any step if some one else would like to try).

How ever I now restarted Eclipse and it still works!

Best regards
Fredrik

I still think the method of installing at a PC with internet and then move the
Eclipse dir is safer.
