SUMMARY
Microsoft Windows 2000 has the ability to integrate a Service Pack into the initial installation of the operating system. You can use this method to replace the original Windows 2000 source files with the updated Service Pack files before Windows 2000 is installed. Then, when Windows 2000 is installed, the Service Pack is installed automatically.

Integrating Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Create a distribution folder on the computer on which the initial installation folder will be stored. Give the new folder any name (for example, C:\W2kinstall).
Copy the contents of the I386 folder from the original Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the new folder. Make sure to copy all the subfolders in the I386 folder.
In the Service Pack 1 folder, locate Update.exe, and then run the following command
update.exe -s:c:\ w2kinstall
where W2kinstall is the folder to which you copied the I386 folder. Windows 2000 must be running on the computer in order to run the Update program. You can install Windows 2000 with SP1 integrated from this folder however, unlike other Service Pack upgrades, you cannot uninstall a Service Pack installed in this manner.
NOTE : If you intend to burn a CD of the integrated SP directory structure, you must burn it by attaching to the network share (W2kinstall) so that the i386 and associated files and directories are burned to the root of the CD-ROM.
