Disk Manager 2000 (version 3.10.14) Disk Manager 2000 provides step-by-step installation instructions to help you install an IBM IDE hard disk drive. Disk Manager 2000 also allows an older system BIOS with a drive capacity limitation (i.e. 528MB, 540MB, 2.1GB, 4.2GB, 8.4GB or 32GB) to use IBM IDE drives above those limits. For Award BIOS 4.5x see the Ontrack Data International solution for 33GB BIOS lock-up.
Ontrack Data International solution for 33GB BIOS lockup
Overview
Some computers have a BIOS that does not properly manage drives over 33.8 GB. These computers will lock up at boot time when a drive with a capacity over 33.8 GB is attached. Disk Manager provides a solution to get past the BIOS lock-up condition and still access the entire drive. The solution involves two steps:
Use the Disk Manager utility \"Set Drive Size\" to command the drive to report its size (in total sectors) as less than 33.8 GB (each boot).
This step allows the computer to boot with the drive installed, but only the reported drive size will be supported by the BIOS.
Install the drive using Disk Manager which will install a Dynamic Drive Overlay on the drive. The Dynamic Drive Overlay will take control of the drive from the BIOS each time you boot and support the drive to its full capacity.
In order to utilize the \"Set Drive Size\" utility, you must first be able to boot with the drive in question installed in the system. Further help information for this solution can be found in the Disk Manager F1 Help Menu under Maintenance Options/Utilities/Set Drive Size.
Procedure
Do not jumper the drive for the 32 GB clip.
Attach the drive to the problem computer and enter SYSTEM BIOS. Select \"None\" for the drive in question. Save settings and shutdown. Install the drive in a computer that does not lock up.
Boot to the Disk Manager diskette. [Depending on system configuration, Disk Manager may take a minute or two to boot.]
From the Main Menu, select Advance Options -> Maintenance Options -> Utilities -> Your Drive -> Set Drive Size. At the \"Set Drive Size\" screen, press \"Enter\" to accept the suggested Total Sectors value.
Install the drive in the computer for which it is intended. Reboot, enter SYSTEM BIOS, change the settings for the drive to \"Auto\" – \"Auto\", exit SYSTEM BIOS and reboot.
Run Disk Manager to complete the drive installation.
de var ik sat på da jeg fik den........men det eneste tidspunkt jeg kan få den til at virke er når den står som 32Gb Clip slave...så ska jeg sætte den derover igen?
