*.domain i IIS

It's not a question of IIS, it's a question of DNS.
how do you set a DNS server so that *.domain.com all point to an IP ? you can't!

I guess that's why IIS doesn't have this functionality.

what you can do though, is domain.com/* all pointing at the same place. Simply by changing the mapping of you 404 document on IIS.

Of course you can - people do it all the time. At least two
websites I have do it. Let me see now .... yeah ... they are running
Apache not IIS. I've never seen it on an IIS.

still, hopw do you resolve adkfhasdkjfh.domain.com?

befor IIS or apache or Lotus or whatever can support it, DNS needs to.

Nice goulduck, I love learning new features, especially since I have been administrating DNS for a long time. I noticed however that I could not add * through the DNS admin program, it says "invalid character" but once I added it manually in the dns file and restarted the DNS service, it worked and showed it correctly on the DNS admin program.

Stimpy > sorry, couldn’t help. It would however work on IIS if you only had 1 site and no hostheader names what so ever.

At lave en host Header Name *.domain.dk funker ikke. Så lander dü kun på siden hvis du skriver *.domain.dk.

Det kan da ikke være rigtigt at man skal skifte til apache for at få denne funktion.

IIS delen var jeg heller ikke helt sikker på. Men som Dr.M skriver, så virker DNS.
