6.0 Incompatibilities
- 6.1 Keyboard freezing during a game
A problem can occur with some brands of wheel mouse. This may happen if the wheel button is moved in game, menus open in the background on the desktop as a result (therefore passing keyboard control away from WWP). One way to solve this is to try setting the wheel mouse settings to default. Please try the following:
- Double click on 'My Computer'.
- Double click on 'Control Panel'.
- Double click on 'Mouse'.
- Click on 'Wheel'.
- Set your Wheel settings to 'default'.
- Attempt to run the game again.
- 6.2 Random crashes during play (Intel i740 chipset)
This problem usually effects the Intel 740 chipset and the driver from which is being currently used on your system. The usual solution would be to contact your computer vendor or the manufacturer of the video card for the latest driver. Please note that Intel make the chips for these cards and the reference drivers from the Intel Website may not be 100% compatible with your video card.
7.0 Wormnet/Network Issues
- 7.1 A fatal error occurs when logging on Wormnet
The most common reason why this happens is because the game requires a valid link to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to perform tasks. The game will not be able to achieve this without a connection, therefore please make sure you have the Internet open as a background task to ensure a viable connection prior to running the game and logging on Wormnet.
If a message is displayed stating 'Fatal error during gameserver connection' when attempting to connect to Wormnet through a proxy server. Test network setttings from within WWP and ensure that the proxy is enabled. If not make sure that the checkbox is highlighted above the test network button. If the checkbox is highlighted and the proxy is still listed as disabled then review your proxy port number as this may have been incorrectly entered. If you are still unsure please contact your network administrator to establish if you have web proxy and that it is Harvest Cache compatible.
- 7.2 Multiplayer options available
WWP can either be played on a single system (a Hotseat game), over a Local Area Network, or over Wormnet. There will be no support for either direct modem or null modem play.
- 7.3 How to register on Wormnet
The registration for Wormnet occurs within the game. Launch the game, and when the main menu appears select 'play over LAN or the Internet'. Now type in your nickname and click on Wormnet. From here you can select which server you want to log onto and then register your details, which will allow you to input a desired username and password.
- 7.4 Port information for network connection via firewalls
To ensure successful usage your machine requires outgoing connections on TCP ports 80 and 6677, as well as on TCP ports 17010, 17011 and 17012. If you want to be able to host a game you will have to redirect incoming packets on the TCP ports to your machine.
You will also need to set your IP address within the front end of the game. Select the configuration option on the network screen and enter the IP address of your gateway in the box labelled 'your I.P. address'. The IP address should not begin with 10. , 192.168. or 169.254. .
Finally you will need to edit the registry to force this address to be used. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any damage incurred to your machine by using registry files or following any of the advice given on this site. Modification of your registry is performed at your own risk. You should always have a back up of your registry before making any changes
- Select 'Start'.
- Select 'Run...'.
- Type 'regedit' and select 'OK' to display the registry editor structure.
- Select down through the directory structure to
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Team17SoftwareLTD\Worm sWorldParty\NetSettings'.
- Select 'NetSettings'.
- Select 'AddressOverride'.
- Replace the '0' value with '1' and select 'OK'.
- Select 'Exit' from the editor 'File' menu.
- It should now be possible to host games successfully.
Håber nogen kan hjælpe, tak.
