Messenger fejl 1603

Hello,

Thank you for writing to MSN Messenger Service.

I am addressing your concern in receiving the 1603 error message when trying to
download MSN Messenger.

When you try to install MSN Messenger, you may receive the following error
messages: "MSN Messenger setup has failed. Error code: 1601," "MSN Messenger
setup has failed. Error code: 1603," "MSN Messenger setup has failed. Error
code: 1613."
You may receive these messages if the Windows Installer files did not update.
To resolve the issue, try the following:

1. If you tried to upgrade by clicking the There is a new Messenger available,
would you like to upgrade now? message: a. Close all applications and restart
the computer.
b. Start MSN Messenger.
c. Click the There is a new Messenger available, would you like to upgrade
now? message and follow the steps.

2. If you tried to upgrade or download MSN Messenger from the MSN Messenger
Web site: a. Close all applications and restart the computer.
b. Visit http://messenger.msn.com, and then try to download MSN Messenger
again.

3. Remove, and then reinstall MSN Messenger: a. Remove MSN Messenger.
Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000
1. Right-click the MSN Messenger icon in the notification area at the far
right of the task bar, and then click Sign Out.
2. Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
4. Click MSN Messenger, and then click Add/Remove.


b. Download the Windows Installer files. Windows Installer Redistributable
for Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Millennium Edition Visit

and then follow the instructions on the screen.


Windows Installer Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 Visit

and then follow the instructions on the screen.



c. Reinstall MSN Messenger:
1. Create a folder on your hard disk where you want to save MSN Messenger.
Make a note of the folder's name so you can find the software after it has
downloaded.
2. Visit http://messenger.msn.com. Click Download now, and then click Save.
Open the folder you saved on the hard disk, and then click OK.
3. Double-click the SetupDL.exe, SetupNT.exe, or Setup9x.exe file from your
download folder to install the software.


4. Restart the computer before you sign in to MSN Messenger.
