graphiks resolution /display resolution

I am sitting on a computer that has a 15" display resoution of 1400X1050. I find most like mine have 1024X768. In my display properties> settings dialogue I can see I can drag my display up to 1400X1050 (max).

I want to get a new computer. I see many with only 1024X768 under their display features. However under the grafiks features it claims a bold 
 
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300 / 2048 x 1536 / 24-bit (16,7 millioner farver)

Does this mean when I go to set my screen resolution in the display properties> settings dialogue, it will max out at 1024X768 or at 2048X1536 ?
