Scientists are discovering new galaxies and spatial phenomena because of the assistance of telescopes in space. On the Kvant module, the cosmonauts observe active galaxies, quasars, and neutron stars, using electromagnetic Spectra and x-ray emissions devices. After a *night* of watching the stars, the crew turn their eyes and equipment toward the Earth. These studies range from atmospheric science and oceanic studies to topographical studies.
