( ) Forsøg at aktivere produktet automatisk online.

as far as I am aware you dont need a license for Access Runtime for Office 2010.

And System requirements are important.

Supported operating systems: Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-Bit x86), Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 editions, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 3

Only the 32-bit Access 2010 Runtime is supported on Windows XP Service Pack 3.

If you can get the runtime running on the office 2003 machine then teh dB should also work there too

PS. Rettelse
Databasen skal sandsynligvis installeres senere på en pc med enten
Office 2003 eller
Office 2007

No, I also thought I don't need a license to run the runtime module.
But it keeps asking me for the license, and I cannot access the database.

You may get some help here
http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/Access-2010-Runtime-t1950229.html

I'm thinking that you need to make package which deploys your dB and the runtime and that might not be allowed with Office home.

Does that mean that customer cannot use the database, without having to buy the full Access???
I thought the free Runtime module was meant to run databases in a limited way (make changes to data, but not to design).

No it doesnt mean that.
The person who is going to distribute the dB and Access runtime (you) might have to have an Access version which is not HOME or Student. IE You may need to have professional or something like that.

When you have EG proffesional you will be allowed to make a deployment package which contains your dB and the runtime.

I havenet worked with runtime versions since XP and I kno wthen you had to have the proffesional/developer Edition which I still have.

It makes sence if you think about it. Home/Student should not be able to make and sell software.

But again I am just guessing.

An idea may be to download Windows virtual PC, install Windows but no Office/Access.

Then install the runtime so that it doesnt conflict with you home edition of office

I just tried installing the runtime on a virtual PC with Office 2003 and I get an error telling me that the Office 2003 is currupt and that I should repair it or remove it.

So obviously the runtime installation "looks" at any insatlled office version.

I'll now remove Office 2003 and try again

uninstalled Office 2003 then installed Runtime without any problems.
Made an Access 2010 dB (accdb) and copied it to virtual PC.

Double clicked to open dB and it opened without any problems.

I have developed the database on a version of Access 2010 which can make design changes. (The RT module cannot do that).
The RT module is a stand-alone free download from MS.
Access is no longer part of the Home package of Office.
The customer (who is going to use the database but not make design changes) has Home and Student version 2010 of Office.

But the customer is not interested in my uninstalling his Office 2010 (or 2003/2007 on another machine), because they want to use it (Word etc.) for other purposes.
But thanks for the idea!

OK, I understand the problem.

Strange I was not asked to activate or enter any license number.

If I get a bit of time I'll try and install office home and see what happens.

Thanks. If no solution comes, we shall have to manage otherwise ;-)

I have now installed Office 2007 Home and Student (didnt have 2010) followed by Access 2010 runtime without any problems at all.

Then opened my access 2010 database again without any problems.

So its seems that as long as you have a working+valid office of any version the Access runtime will work, thats what I assume anyway.

I would suggest trying it out on the customers PC.

Thank you very much.
Did you actually try to load a database made in the Pro version of Access into the Runtime module? (Because I could also open the runtime module, but not the accdb file made already).

Thank you for your kind offer.
The people owning the database are quite touchy about privacy, so though I don't mistrust you, I am not allowed to send it to you...

no problem.

You should also try compiling the database.

I've tried packaging the database (after advice in another forum) but that didn' work either (so far).

if you make another very simple dB do you get the same problems? If so then you could send that dB to me

Sorry for not replying to the last few questions.
Thank you for your offer of sending a small DB to you for test.
I don't want to spend more time on this matter now.
One problem is that I cannot test the solutions on the other machine(s).
So let us let the matter rest for now.
Thank you for all your help and suggestions.
We can close the subject now though we didn't find a solution.
It's ok, not a big problem, I can run the DB from my computer at least for some time.
