How to tell what file system ther is on a USB?

det er FAT på alle under 2gb, og derefter FAT32 - sådan er det bare. NTFS kræver afgift til m$, så det vil producenter af usb'er ikke betale forlods for at kunne, så det kan de ikke.

Ok so all my USB-meories with mem>2Gb is FAT32.

I wonder because I tried to move files from my digitaltv-box to my USB-memory.
The digitaltv-box complained over taht teh USB was not in FAT32.
In other word it said "Make sure the USB is in FAT32".

If you guys got any clu, please let me know!

Put it in an XP-machine > Open Disk management > Right click your USB stick > Formate > Use FAT32.

You can use fdisk -l to see which filesystem it is.
If you do not like the format you can use fdisk, og cfdisk to delete and recreate the partition.

Afterwards run mkfs.vfat /dev/usbkeydevicename to create the filesystem on the new partition.

It is likely you will need to set the -F parameter on mkfs.vat to create it with 32 bit. In example.

mkfs.vfat -f 32 /dev/UsbKeyDeviceName

-f is not the same as -F
should be:

mkfs.vfat -F 32 /dev/UsbKeyDeviceName
