Buy one license and then distibute the finished dB with a runtime version of Access which is free.

It may be free but I very much doubt that there is as much support to get, Access is one of the most popular dB's (EVER)

terry:
"familienriis" dont want support, they want a cheep/free database. And http://www.openoffice.org/ is just that.  ;-)

But if they need support, here is TONS of support: http://www.oooforum.dk/
Still 100% free! ;-)

By the way:
You say: "Access is one of the most popular dB's (EVER)"
???
What about MySQL, Oracle, and so on...? *UPS*!

No need for *UPS*!
Access is still one of the most popular dB's (EVER).

Oracle isnt used by people who make their own simple homepages and therefore will NEVER be used by as many people who use Access or MySQL for that matter.

MySQL is getting more popular but it still has a long way before it is as popular as Access. Access isnt just a database is is also a development tool which MySQL isnt. You need other tools for that.

Microsoft has released a free version of SQL Server, lets see how long MySQL is around :o) And also a free version of VB.NET

*UPS*!

Well... I dont use M$ Access, becourse it breaks down, when more than about 10 people are using it at the same time... and thats a well-known fact.

So I use MySQL and PHP. Always stable and fast. :-)

But nice to hear, that M$ is open up for SQL Server. I have never work with M$ SQL Server, but many people tell its a stable and fast database. :-)

Is only a runtime version of Access, you cant design your database with this. You need a full version of Access for doing this as stated 26/03-2008 19:24:20

Purchase one version of Access and make your dB. Then install the runtime version on all other PC's along with your finished dB.

Or, use OpenOffice :o)

I have worked with Access for many years, also for dB's with 50 or more users without ANY problems.

The reason it breaks down isnt the product but the people using it (and thats a well known fact) which will also be the case for other dB's/development tools too.

Ok, whatever. Mabye you are right, its been many years since I work with Access (becourse of the max. 10 people problem). :-)
But nice to hear, its just an old problem, or a problem for people with low experience. :-)

Mabye you woud like to test "Base" from http://www.openoffice.org ?
Becurse, if you think this works allright, we can recimend the database-application "Base" as the cheepest solution to "familienriis"?
Or what du you think?
