BIOS Updating Procedure
Following are some very critical notes regarding BIOS updating procedure. If you have not flashed a BIOS before, this is what you must read first before you start any BIOS updating.
1. Boot up with a clean OS. You can used one of the following methods: If you boot up with DOS, press <F5> at the time that screen says \"Verifying DMI information\" If you use Windows 98 or Windows 95, press <SHIFT><F5> at the time that screen says \"Verifying DMI Information\" Format a bootable floppy disk, and remove both <CONFIG.SYS> and <AUTOEXEC.BAT> files on the disk. Then copy the BIOS file and the Award flashing utility to this disk. Now, use this floppy disk to boot up again. NOTE: The purpose of the above procedure is to make sure that there is absolutely no memory management utility, like <EMM386.EXE>, resides in the system memory after boot up. This type of the utility will affect the BIOS flashing procedure, and will cause the mainboard to STOP functioning.
2. At the DOS PROMPT, type in AWDFLASH <BIOS file name>. It is highly recommended to save the current BIOS file, in case you want to abort the BIOS updating and return to the current version.
3. Now, answer with \"YES\" to update the BIOS.
4. After the completion, RESET the system, go to BIOS setup and make desirable changes.
