Well what we\'ve always called it officially is the NV2A. A lot of people have called it the NV25, but NVidia told us to call it the 2A instead and there are two reasons for that: one, the NV25 in the event that nVidia wouldn\'t use that part would be a PC part and it would be put in here. The second thing is the part that we have in the box is not just a super clocked NV20 but it actually draws some of the geometry features out of the NV30. So if you put a label on it, it\'s really an NV27.5 or somewhere in that range in terms of the family. We have contact with a certain person (that will remain nameless) who actually works at a fab building nVidia wafers for both current and future generation product! We won\'t get into detail much beyond that but here is what this informant had to say!
\"We had our quarterly meeting today... some of the facts passed on to us about the nVidia products are: .22u product is yielding at 87% .18u product is \"not yielding good\" no specifics, but the goal is to start manufacturing nV20 wafers as shippable product the 1st of March!! Also, I\'m not sure what nVidia has in .15u technology, but we\'re making it! (R&D) \"

\"One other piece of info about the chips I\'ll give you now, is that they are moving through the line faster than planned because of the market slowdown (no other product types to eat up tool time). This won\'t mean that they will be released sooner, but rather they will be more thoroughly tested, and we will have more time to improve and experiment with them to get the yield higher come full production time. Also, the more time we have to tweak the recipes on the tools, the better they are made, thus they come out being able to handle higher frequencies. \"

Well folks, as you can see. It looks as if things are going well for nVidia and the NV20 is right around the corner. This is fairly trust-worthy information but as the saying goes, take it with a grain of salt. This person does work at the plant so I figure they know what is really happening there and have no reason to pass along anything but accurate info.

Det blev måske en smule rodet, men jeg hader de her små vinduer på Eksperten, så sådan måtte det blive. Nogle af linksne er ikke helt nye, men er stadig interessante og holder endnu. Der er før blevet sagt at nV20 ville komme op og koste 6000dkr,-, men her er snakket om 128MB DDR versionen af den. 64MB DDR versioner kommer til 4000dkr,-.
