Windows 98 installation

der skal man ha en ældre version af windows liggende, inden der kommer en ny version på harddisken...!

I Windows XP (og sikkert også Windows 2000) højreklikker du på spillet, vælger Properties og klikker Compability. Nu kan du vælge hvilket OS der skal emuleres til spillet.

Vil det sige at jeg skal afinstallere win2000, installere win98 og derefter installere win200 igen?

sn0wflake: På .exe-filen?? I så fald, er der ikke en sådan funktion i windows 2000!

nej det er kun i win xp og det er ikke altid det virker !.. men ja det skal gøres i den rækkfølger...

Så er det eneste jeg kan gøre er at ønske dig held og lykke med din Windows 98 installation *LMAO*
Hvis du alligevel skal installere dit OS så prøv i første omgang kun at installere Windows XP.

Windows98 efter Win2k

Boot på win2000 cd-rom - vælg repair - manual repair - log på din winnt installation (typisk skal man her bare skrive 1) - skriv dit admin-password - skriv så "fixboot" (uden "") - Sig ja til at tilføje den til boot.ini - nu spørger denn efter load identifier, dette er navnet som kommer til at stå i boot.ini - næste punkt kan jeg ikke huske men skriv bare 1 så virker det :)

How to Add a Win9x/Me to an existing Win XP, or 2000, system.
You have two options:
1. Install the Win9x/Me as the first OS, and then Reinstall Win XP or 2000.
    This option is very safe, but takes time and data loss occurs.
2. Install the Win9x/Me, and then Repair the Win XP/2000/NT boot sector.
    This could be less reliable, but it's shorter and no data lost occurs.

Critically, don't forget that Win9x/Me can only use FAT or FAT32.
A different operating system should be installed on its own logical drive.

Hvis jeg bruger denne mulighed:

Install Win9x/Me & then REPAIR the Win XP/2000/NT boot sector (no loss of data).

The boot sector for Win XP/2000/NT will be broken by the Win9x installation and will be repaired.
Already Installed: [Win XP or Win 2000 or NT]. Add Windows: [WinMe, or 98, or 98SE, or 95].

Procedure:  - requires at least one FAT partition (C: drive)
1. Backup important data - just in case!
2. Create a Win XP/2000/NT Repair/Recovery set of floppies - ESSENTIAL.
    Test by booting up with the Repair floppy and see if you have access to a repair/recovery
    function, but make no changes - do not continue unless you have access.
3. Create a FAT partition if none exists (make it Active) - or use the Reinstall option.
    Use the same FAT as Win XP/2000/NT - you will have access to all drives
    - or use NTFS and lose access to the FAT drive(s).
4. Install the Win9x/Me in the standard manner on the active FAT drive.
5. Create a Win9x/Me bootdisk/Startup Disk during the install - essential.
6. Reboot, and ensure the installation is satisfactory.

7. Bootup with the Win XP/2000/NT Setup boot disks, or the CD-ROM
    Select Repair installation, then Manual repair or Inspect boot sector,
    and fix the boot sector (mbr) - and nothing else.
    (this will also store an existing DOS or Win9x boot sector in c:\BOOTSECT.DOS,
    and replace that DOS or Win9x boot sector with the XP/2000/NT boot sector).
    Then Exit & Reboot (we don't really want to run the Setup, just to mend boot sector).

When you restart your computer, the Windows XP/2000/NT boot loader screen appears, and you can choose between "Windows" (Win9x/Me) and Win XP/2000/NT. If not, read Troubleshoot below.
