Unplug all power to the pc.(battery and power supply/cable). Press an hold power button down in 30 seconds. Reconnect power cable and battery and try to start pc.
Hello! Thanks for your suggestion, unfortenately it semester like it did not help. I tried holding down the button for like 60 sec. I also tried switch the RAM slots and disconnect the dvd-player. I only get a beep followed by two beeps before it turné off. To me it Looks like it might be the harddrive that is malfuncture. What do you think?
Maybe. If you disconnet the drive, appers "insert boot disc" on the screen, whwn you boot the pc? If you don't get this message the motherboard could be the problem as well.
Hello again! I disconnected the harddrive and then I got the packard Bell logo and the possibility to enter the bios. But as before, the Pc shuts down in a couple of seconds. To me this looks like either a malfuncture moteherboard or a malfuncture powebutton. I remember a old TV that behavied like this and that was because of a malfuncture powerbutton. What do you think? Best regards Fredrik
The reset button has the same funktion as the power button, and normaly you don't use the reset button. If you find where the cables are connetted to the motherboard, you disconnect the reset cable and put the power on cable on the reset button. Now you should be able to use this button to start the pc.
Hello! No, I can not find any reset button. I actually sent an email to the Packard Bell support and also asked them if they got any suggestions. I will get back with what they answer. Best regards Fredrik
Hello! The support answered that the Pc is too old to repair, it is much cheaper to buy a new one. I of course need the data on the harddrive. What do you think guys could I just fit the harddrive into another pc (not from packard Bell) and it will boot up (unless it is the harddrive that is broken)? Best regards Fredrik
If you put it in a desktop pc the drive could be connected as a slave drive, so you boot up on the original drive that is in the computer. Maybe you shall go in disk management at give the disk a letter so Windows can see it. A harddisk dock and or a sata/ide adapter can be used too to connect to another pc.
Hello guys! Sorry for late feedback. Thanks for all help. I remember correct I manage to reboot the Pc from a linux install cd (run from cd) connect to my wifi and copyright some files to a external harddrive. Finnally I bild a "new" pc for my Mother with linux mint. Se seems Happy with it. Best regards
